I started by using papers, stamps, and dies from Spellbinders/FSJ. If you don't already know Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey have merged giving you more selection of products on one website! And they will now except international orders for FSJ products too!!!
I used Whip Cream card stock for the base of the card. Then I chose this absolutely fabulous red and black checked printed paper from the Cozy Prints paper pack. This was cut to 4 x 5.25" which allowed a frame of white around the card. The pine cones and pine sprigs were created using the Branch and Cone Die set. I LOVE this set. It is awesome and you will probably see a lot of it from me this winter season. The sprigs were cut using both Kiwi Slice and Limeade Splash card stock. The pine cones were cut from Oatmeal Cookie and Hazelnut Blend Card stock. I first die cut the segments of the pine cone using the Hazelnut blend. Then I glued them to a piece of Oatmeal Cookie and carefully trimmed the Oatmeal cookie paper along the shape of the pine cone.
After stamping the Christmas Sprig stamp onto Whip Cream card stock, I fussy cut it out using my detail scissors. It was colored with Copic alcohol markers (colors are listed below).
The sprigs and pine cones were glued onto the plaid paper in a pleasing arrangement. I then popped up the Christmas Sprig stamp to give it some dimension. Next I stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Sparkle Trim stamp onto the smallest of the tags from the Tag Set Steel Rule Die. I stamped it with Clear Pigment Ink and embossed with Journey Gold embossing powder.
For some added decoration, I used Journey Gold Twine and some Fashion Gold embellishments.
Here is a close up of the finished card.
I hope you like how it turned out. I love the color combinations and think this would be a great masculine Christmas card.
