Bibi's Butterfly collection from Spellbinders Day 1

Today I am featuring the first of three projects I have created using the new Bibi's Buttervfly Collection  from Spellbinders which was launched on Feb. 14.

I started out by  using the Geometric Butterfly Stencil from the collection and 3 colors of distressed ink. I used blues and greens on white cardstock , but you could use any color combo you like.  After stenciled, I used the Butterfly Card Creator from the same collection to cut out the butterfly.  Then I cut the body of the butterfly using black glitter paper from my stash.

For the card I started with an A2 white base card, to which I adhered a piece of Brushed Gold cardstock of the same size.  It was cut using my paper trimmer.  The I cut a slightly smaller piece of teal cardstock 5.25 x 4 inches and using the same stencil, and metallic gold ink, I stenciled the dots onto the background.

The butterfly and body were then adhered to the teal cardstock and that was adhered to the base card.

Then using the Butterfly Card Creator die again I cut out several of the greens and flowers using colors of cardstock that somewhat coordinated with the inks I used on the stencil along with some soft green for the leaves.  These were all cut using my Platinum 6 die cutting machine.

The greenery was arranged and glued to the lower left corner of the card and the three flowers were adhered on top of them with a white pearl embellishment in the center of each.

Finally I gold foiled the sentiment using my Glimmer Hot Foil System, Everyday Sentiments II Glimmer plate and gold foil.  It was cut out and popped up on the front of the card using foam squares.

Here is another photo of the finished card:

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  Again you can choose any color combination you like and by changing the sentiment make it a card for any occasion.  Please check out Bibi's Butterfly Collection for all the wonderful dies, stamps, and stencils it contains.  I am sure you will find something you like!

Spring Into Glimmer Collection from Spellbinders Day 3

This is a clean and simple card to showcase the new Spring into Glimmer collection from Spellbinders.  This is my 3rd project for this collection.

As usual, I started with an A2 white base card.  I then cut out a blue piece of cardstock with the Elegant Twist Rectangles using my Platinum 6 die cutting machine for a background.  This was attached to the base using Easy Glide Tape Runner.

Next I used my Glimmer Hot Foil System to glimmer the Diamond Floral Frame Glimmer plate using Gold foil onto white paper.  It was then cut with the coordinating die.  I glued it to the center of the blue frame using the same tape runner.

I then glimmered both the sentiment from the Be Bold Sentiments and the butterfly with the Glimmer Edge Butterflies both using gold foil.  The were both cut out using the coordinating dies.  The body of the butterfly was cut from black cardstock and glued to the center using Bearly Art Liquid Glue.

I  attached the butterfly to the right upper corner of the the card using liquid glue and adhering only one side to make it appear as if the butterfly was flying.

The dies from the Glimmer Edge flowers and green cardstock were used for the greenery and glued to the left side of the card as shown.  Next, I created three flowers from the Petite Floral Potpourri die set using two shades of blue and adhered them to the left side of the diamond as shown in the photo.  Fashion Gold embellishments were added to the center of the flowers.

Finally the sentiment was popped up in the center of the diamond using foam squares.

I think this created a very simple, easy card to make and could be done  in any of your favorite colors.  Here is another photo of the finished card:

Spring Into Glimmer Collection from Spellbinders Day 2

As you might know, the 14th of every month Spellbinders releases it's new collections.  I will be featuring some of those collections in the next few days.  Today, I will be showing off the new Spring into Glimmer Collection with the second of  3 projects I have created using some of the dies and glimmer plates from that collection.  Today's card is:

I started this card with an A2 size white base card.  To it I added some designer paper from my stash the same size as the front of the card, cutting it out with my paper trimmer.  Next I die cut two pieces from the With Love Regalia Card Builder die set, the solid shape in dark brown, and the filigree shape using craft cardstock.    It was cut using my Platinum 6 die cutting machine. They were glued together using Bearly Art Liquid Glue and I placed a coordinating ribbon around the center of the piece.  It was then adhered to the front of the card using the liquid glue.  Next, I cut out several leaves and greenery using the Glimmer Edge Flower set  and adhered them to the open section of the filigree piece using the liquid glue.  Using the dies only  from the same set, I cut out several flowers, formed them, and glued them to the front of the card as shown.  I then added fashion gold embellishments to the center of each flower.

Then using my Glimmer Hot Foil System and Gold foil, I created a butterfly from the Glimmer Edge Butterfly set.  The body was cut from black cardstock.  The body was then glued to the butterfly and the butterfly was glued to the front of the card as shown.  Using the same gold foil, I glimmered the sentiment using the Be Bold Glimmer Set, cut it out with the coordinating dies, and popped it up on the front of the card with foam squares.  As a final touch, I added a bow to the ribbon and attached it with glue dots.

Here is another photo of the finished card:

I don't normally make cards with this particular color scheme, however I came across this background paper and really wanted to use it.  I think it worked out great with the other colors I chose.  What do you think?

Spring Into Glimmer Collection from Spellbinders Day 1

Happy Valentine's Day!  As you might know, the 14th of every month Spellbinders releases it's new collections.  I will be featuring some of those collections in the next few days.  Today, I will be showing off the new Spring into Glimmer Collection with the first of 3 projects I have created using some of the dies and glimmer plates from that collection.  Today's card is:

This card was super fun to create.  I started with a white A2 sized card base.  I then cut a piece of lavender cardstock to fit the complete front of the card and attached it using Easy Glide Adhesive Tape Runner.  To this I add a piece of white cardstock that measured 4 x 5.25 which was cut using my Paper Trimmer and also attached to the front of the base card.  Next, using the The Layered Stitched Background die set which was the Large Die of the Month for December 2021, I first stitched it with the variegated purple embossing thread from the Spellbinders Variegated Floss Bundle with a #22 needle and embroidered each design element.  Next I cut the outside border piece from a slightly darker lavender cardstock and attached it over the stitching using Bearly Art Liquid Glue and the adhered it to the bottom half of the card using the same glue.

Next, using the Glimmer Hot Foil System,  I glimmered the flowers with  Lavender Petal foil and then cut them out using my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine and the matching dies.  Next I cut out the leaves and flower buds using green and purple cardstock.  The glimmered flower was then glued together using liquid glue and the flower and greenery was arranged and glued in place as shown.  I also added a lavender enamel drop to the center of the flower from my stash.

The Butterfly was glimmered using the Glimmer Edge Butterfly set  and Cobalt Blue foil.   It was then cut out using the included die and the body of the butterfly was cut using black cardstock and glued to the center of the body using the liquid glue.  Butterfly was attached to the card, by gluing just one wing so that it appears to be flying.

Finally the sentiment was chosen from the Be Bold Glimmer Sentiments set using Gold Foil.  It was also cut out using the included die.  It was then popped up using foam squares and placed just above the embroidered section as shown below.

I really love how the Glimmer Hot Foil adds so much to each card it is used on.  It makes it all the more special.  So if you haven't checked out the system, foils, and glimmer plates, you must do so.  The will definitely enhance your card making fun!

Spellbinders Clear Stamp and Die of the Month for February 22 - Birthday Card

For this particular card, I used the Spellbinders Clear Stamp and Die Kit of the Month for February 2022,  For all of the February clubs available, please click here.   It is typewriter themed and I decided to use one of the included sentiments to make this a birthday card.

I started with an A2 white base card.  To it I added a piece of purple cardstock which measures 5.25 x 4 inches and was cut with my paper trimmer.  I also cut a piece of decorative striped purple cardstock from my stash to measure 3.75 x 5. inches also cut with the paper trimmer.  These were both adhered to the base card using Easy Glide Adhesive Tape Runner.  I the wanted a decorative oval design behind my centerpiece.  I hot foiled the Essential Due Lines Oval Glimmer plate with Lavender Petal Foil and my Glimmer Hot Foil System to some white cardstock.  I then centered my Elegant Ovals die over the foiled lines and cut it out using my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine.  Next the typewriter, three roses and the sentiment were stamped onto white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  I then colored the typewriter using cool grey copic markers and the roses were done using pinks and greens for the leaves.  The stems of leaves were stamped onto white cardstock using some green ink from my stash.  They were all cut out using the coordinating dies set and my Platinum 6 Die Cutting and Embossing Machine.

The sentiment piece was then inserted into the slit in the top of the typewriter and glued in place using Bearly Art Liquid Glue.  It was then popped up onto the oval using Foam Squares.  Next I added the rose at the top and the two sprigs to the bottom right corner using the liquid glue.  The two pink roses were attached at the bottom right corner atop the sprigs using foam squares.

For a final touch, I added three purple enamel drops from my stash to finish the card off.  I really like how it turned out.  I hope you do too!

Spellbinders APG of the Month For February 22 - From me to You

This time I am featuring the new February 22 APG of the month.  This beautiful die set seemed perfect for creating a square card, which I hardly ever make.

I started out by creating this white square base card which measures 5 3/8 inches square and was cut using my paper trimmer.  Next I cut a piece of  soft green cardstock for the matted background which measured 5 inches square.

The medallion dies were cut using white cardstock and my platinum 6 die cutting machine.  They were arranged as shown and glued in place using Bearly Art liquid glue.  I placed a piece of white organza ribbon across the center of the green square and glued it into place.  I then glued the center strip of the die set on top of it across the center of the card using the liquid glue. The green piece with the die cuts attached were then adhered  to the base using Easy Glide Permanent Adhesive.

I then decided it needed some flowers, so using the Spellbinders Petite Floral Potpourri die set I cut out several small flowers using the same color green cardstock and some pink cardstock.  The leaves were cut with green cardstock. The flowers were arranged as shown below and I added a white organza bow underneath the floral arrangement.  I used some white pearls and some soft green  pearls from my stash as embellishments for the center of the flowers.

Next I needed a sentiment which I chose from the Glimmer More Sentiments.  I used Moondust Foil and my Glimmer Hot Foil System to foil it onto white cardstock.  It was then cut using the included die.  I trimmed it to size, and attached it to the center strip using Foam Squares.

I hope you like the finished card.  For all the details on the Spellbinders Monthly Clubs just click here.  There are many to choose from and no obligation!

Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for February 2022 - Sending My Love

Today is the the first  day of February  and  I am featuring the Spellbinders Small Die of the Month.  It is a very pretty die set and perfect for any type of card you need.  To check out all the Spellbinders clubs, click here.

To start this card, I began with a white A2 card base.  I then cut  a piece of  dark blue cardstock to the same size as the front of the card using my paper trimmer.  It was adhered to the front of the card using Easy Glide permanent tape runner.  Next, I took a piece of white cardstock and glimmered it using gold foil, the Essential Duo Line Glimmer Rectangle plate and my Glimmer Hot Foil System.  This was then cut to measure 4 x 5.25 and also adhered to the front of the card.

Next I cut a large oval from the Die of the Month for Feb 22 out of brushed gold cardstock with my Platinum 6 die cutting machine and then decided to embroider around the edge.  I used some of the variegated blue threads from the Spellbinders Card Shoppe Essentials, DMC- Variegated Floss Bundle and size 22 needle and embroidered the outside edge of the piece.  It was then centered and attached to the white cardstock using Bearly Art Liquid glue...

Next, I cut a smaller oval from the same die of the month from white cardstock and embroidered it the same way using a lighter blue variegated thread.  The I cut another of the same oval from white cardstock and using gold foil, Yana's Sentiments Glimmer Plate and the Glimmer Hot Foil System and glimmered the sentiment onto the center piece.  It was then placed on the card using foam squares to pop it up.

Using shades of blue cardstock and the Petite Floral Potpourri Die Set I created several small blue flowers to place around the outside edge of the ovals.  The center of each flower was created using Fashion Gold embellishments.  And, as the final touch, I added a blue bow from my stash to the front of the card using a glue dot.

I really love how this one turned out and it could be made from any color combinations.  I also love the little touches of gold foiling which add that extra punch to any card.  And remember to check out Spellbinders Club kits!  You won't be disappointed!
