Purple Floral Sympathy card

One of the cards that I find personally hard to create are Sympathy Cards.  I am low on my supply of them so decided to try and create a few.  Here is the first one I came up with.

I started out with a white base card.  I then found some purple plaid paper in my stash.  It is such a pretty paper, but I basically chose it because of the gold foiled lines in the plaid.  Which is hard to see in the photo.  This piece was cut to 4 x 5.25 using my paper trimmer.  It was then centered and adhered to the base card using Easy Glide Adhesive Tape Runner.

I had just received the Sweet Blooms Glimmer plate and wanted to give it a try.  So I foiled it onto some white paper using my Glimmer Hot Foil System and Gold foil.  Once foiled, I colored in the flowers and leaves using my copic markers.  The flowers were colored in a shade of purple to co-ordinate with the background paper.  It was trimmed to 3.25 x 5 inches using the paper trimmer and adhered to the card using Easy Glide Adhesive Tape Runner.r.

I chose to the Elegant Occasions Glimmer Plate for the Sentiment along with the Gold foil.  It was foiled the same as above.  It was then die cut using my Platinum 6 and the coordinating die from the set.  I then popped it up using foam squares and placed it across the top center of the card.  Lastly, I added some purple rainbow gems from my stash.

I felt that placing the flowers across the bottom gave me more room to place the sentiment.  I didn't want it to cover any of the flowers.  I was really pleased with the way it came out.  I especially like how the small gold lines from the background paper peak out from behind the main piece.  It just adds a little extra gold to the finished card.
