Day 2 - Spellbinders Die of the Month for September 2022 - Fall Leaves

This is a fabulous new club kit from Spellbinders it is called Fall leaves and features both the leave cutouts and the shadow and also two die cut words "Hello" and "Fall" both with shadows.  The leaves can be stitched if you prefer.  Here are two different examples showing how you can use these dies in two different ways.  As always, all the products used are listed at the end of this post.

For the first card, I started with a piece of craft cardstock cut to the size of an  A2 card.  I then added a mat of white cardstock finishing with another mat of  printed paper.  To this I cut out several of the leaves from the Die of the Month Kit (the stitched parts) from white cardstock and stitched each one in a different fall color.  I then matched cardstock colors to the thread colors and glued each leave to it's matching color.  They were then arranged and glued to the front of the card.  I then cut the word "Fall from black cardstock and glued it to a brushed gold cardstock shadow piece.  Both were then glued to the front of the card.

The next card is truly unusual in that I only used the shadow dies for the leaves on the card.  I started with another A2 size card cut from Kraft paper.  To it I added a mat of an orange/gold cardstock and then a final mat of printed cardstock.  I then took some Yupo paper and Alcohol Inks and created some pretty patterned designs using fall colors.  I then cut the shadow dies from the Yupo paper to make them look like fall leaves.  I took a fine line Sepia marker and added some vein lines to each leave.  You could also cut them from white copic paper and color them with copic markers in fall colors if you don't have the inks.

The center strip was added using brown cardstock which framed a smaller piece of the orange/gold cardstock.  They were then glued across the bottom front of the card as show.  I arranged the leaves and glued them in place.  The two outer leaves were popped up using foam squares.  To the cluster of leaves I added a lt. orange paper rose from my stash and a multi-looped bow from natural twine.  It was set in place at the bottom of the cluster with a glue dot.

The work "Fall" was then cut from the brown cardstock and attached across the center of the strip.  One leaf was then adhered opposite of the cluster as a final touch and to balance out the design.

I hope you like these two examples.  I tried to stay within the fall colors to make them look more colorful.  I just love fall colors and making fall cards.  If you do too, this die set might be just for you!
