Today I am thrilled to be sharing a new collection by Spellbinders and Becca Feeken called the Postage Edge Shapes Collection. The first shape I am sharing is the oval. I created two projects for this set, a card and a gift tag. On the card, I also used the rectangle postage edge die. I decided to use a rather unusual color scheme, but I think it turned out beautifully. See for yourself!
The tag is created exactly the same as the center of the card, so I will tell you how the card was created first. I started with an A2 white card base to which I added a piece of mirror gold as a mat. I then cut a piece of teal from the postage edge rectangle and adhered that on top of the gold. I then added a strip of white ribbon from my stash across the center of the card. Two white ovals were cut from white cardstock, in two different sizes. A teal oval postage edge was cut to fit just inside the larger white oval, Then using Gold Foil and my Solid Oval Glimmer plate I foiled another oval to fit just inside the teal one. (if you don't have a hot foil system or this particular plate,, you can easily cut an oval from mirrored gold cardstock instead). I then placed the second white oval atop the fold one and glued each in place.
Next I made three purple roses and tipped the edge of each with purple ink. They were then attached to the bottom left corner of the ovals. I cut the leaves from the same purple cardstock and adhered them as shown. I also cut two gold leaf sprigs and attached hem as shown.
The small butterfly was stamped using the same purple ink as I used for the roses and cut using a die. I glimmered the "Happy Birthday" was also glimmered with gold foil and cut out and matted onto a piece of teal cardstock. It was then popped up onto the front of the card using foam squares. I attached the small butterfly to the sentiment.
As a final touch I added a white bow and a gold and white button from my stash to the bottom left of the card to finish it off.
The tag was created in the same way as the oval section of the card. I then punched a hole in the top center of the ovals to run some white ribbon through for hanging.
It went perfectly with a purple gift bag that I had in my stash. I hope you like this combo and will give it a try for yourselt. If you don't like the colors I chose, you can simply create it with your own favorite color combination.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for another project from this collection. You are not going to want to miss it!
