Well here it is October 1st!. Can you believe it? Where does the time go? I am just getting over the fact that summer is over and now it is October. Well the only thing good about it being the first of a new month, is that Spellbinders releases its new clubs! This month I am starting off with the APG Die of the Month which is called 3D Poinsettia Surprise Envelope! You are just gonna love it!
I'll tell you what, I loved it so much that I made two projects with it! The first one is how it was intended to be used, as a pop-up envelope full of poinsettias ready for the Christmas Season.
For this project, I started with some cream colored cardstock to cut out and assemble the envelope. It was then decorated with brushed gold filigree cutouts and tiny red berries. Then I added the green flourish to the front of the envelope/card. Next, I cut out seven poinsettias from two shades of red cardstock and attached them to the envelope and supports as shown. I also added two different colors of green cardstock for the centers and leaves.
For a final touch, The sentiment was cut from red cardstock and backed with white and attached across the center of the open envelope popped up with foam squares. This piece will fold down compact enough to fit in a normal A2 sized envelope. There is also plenty of room on the back to sign and add a personal message.
For my second project, I decided to use the envelope on the front of an A2 card. So I started with some pretty red and white striped cardstock from my stash and attached it to the front of the card leaving a small border around the outside. Next, I cut the envelope front and back from red cardstock and added the filigree brushed gold areas the same as I did for the first card. This time I cut out seven white poinsettias and used my copic marker to darken the centers slightly. They were then assembled, the centers were cut from yellow cardstock, the leaves from green and then I added a small green pearl to the center of each flower. They were then glued in place as shown.
The next portion of the envelope was popped up using foam strips which were placed along the three outer edges and placed on the front. Next the flourish was added using white cardstock. The sentiment was cut from green cardstock with a mirror gold strip behind it also popped up with foam squares.. As a final touch I added some small red pearls onto the filigree instead of berries.
Here are just two examples of how to use this fabulous die set. I am not sure which one I like better.
Please be sure and stop back tomorrow as I will have more club projects to share with you! And please take a moment to check out all of Spellbinders new Clubs of the Month.
