I'll be back!

Well as many of my regular readers may have noticed, I have not posted anything in several days/weeks.  Unfortunately life has a way of messing up the best laid plans.  I normally try to do a blog post at least every day however lately, life has made that a little more difficult.

First off, I decided to redecorate a couple areas of my home which were very much needed and past due.  So I vigorously began working on my entryway, which is extremely small.  When you open the front door, all you see is the steps going up to the living area.  I decided to get creative and painted the entryway, painted the stair risers and am waiting for a stencil I ordered to stencil the painted risers.  I also need to polish the steps and lay carpet treads and add some wall decor.

Then I decided to re-do my bathroom.  So, I ordered new wallpaper and a border and am in the middle of that project also.

When wouldn't you know it the air conditioning decided to quit on me.  Yikes.  I called the repairman, and it took several times to get him out here to look at it.  He added some gas to the system and said it was acting very strange, but see if that worked.  I left to run some errands and as I returned home, I found the house several degrees hotter than when I left.  So, another call back to the repairman, who said he would have to have a technician accompany him next time to get another pair of eyes on the situation and had no idea when that would be.

Now in the mean time, we are having a heat wave.  Of course we are.  What else would you expect.  It is so hot in our home right now, you don't even want to move, let along do any type of work.  Last night, the temperature inside the house reached 91 degrees!!!!  This was at midnight!!!!  Now I don't know where you live in the country, but for us, that is hot!!  The neighbor kindly lent us a fan, so that we could attempt to sleep.

So, anyway all this is leading to why I have not posted.   I have been too darn hot and miserable to do much of anything.  I don't handle the heat well.  But, believe me, as soon as the a/c is fixed and I get some of my redecorating done, I will be back with lots of new products and projects.

This is such an exciting time at Fun Stampers Journey as the new catalog launches on July 1st.  There will be so many new and exciting products to share.  I can't wait!!

Please be sure to subscribe to this blog so that you don't miss any of the wonderful new and exciting projects I will be sharing with you.

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing (and cool) day!

Timeless Foliage Notecard

Today I am featuring one of Fun Stampers Journey fabulous steel rule dies, called Timeless Foliage.  It is a wonderful die and as you probably know, you can cut any number of materials using steel rule dies, such as denim, leather, light chip board, felt, fabric, etc.

I am using the same technique I used yesterday but in a totally different way. (I wrapped Whip Cream Thread around our B acrylic block and used that as a stamp to create a cool basket weave affect).  Well today I am using that same string covered block to create a totally different look.  I pushed the string covered block onto the Cool Pool ink pad and stamped off.

Next I started to rub the string covered block across a piece of Whip Cream card stock.  I twisted and rubbed the string against the paper as if I was trying to clean the string or rub the ink off of it.   It created this beautiful soft look on the card stock.  I could have stopped there, but I wanted to add something more.

So, the next step I did was to spray Cool Pool Color Splash across the paper.  I placed it in a box and gave it one spritz, from far away.  I just wanted a light coverage.

I then repeated with Silver Shimmer Color Splash using the same method.

I really like how it turned out.  The colors are soft and look really pretty.  I then decided to add some of our  Silver and Pool Play Sparkle tape across the bottom section of the card.  Using the Whip Cream Thread, I wrapped it around the piece centering it between the sparkle tape.

I then used the Timeless Foliage Steel Rule die to cut out one of each leave design.  I did one in Whip Cream, one in Tubo Teal, and one in Brushed Silver.  They were then glued to the front and I added a Whip Cream Thread bow where the stems meet.  As a final touch I added some Fashion Silver dots.  This was then  popped up on a Turbo Teal Base card.  Here is a close up.

I decided not to add a sentiment as I think It really didn't need one.  You can use this card for any number of occasions or just as a note card.  I hope you like it and will give it a try for yourself!

I have listed the complete supply list below that links each item to the online store for purchase.   I hope you enjoyed this card.  Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

String Stamped Background Technique

While visiting Pinterest the other day, I came across this really cool way to stamp a background onto your card.  I really liked it and couldn't wait to give it a try.  I think it gave this card a very unique and different look.  Here is the card I created.

I used Turbo Teal as my color scheme to create a monochromatic look.  To start with I took some Whip Cream thread and wrapped it around a size B acrylic block.  I taped it in place on the back to secure.  It looked like this:

I cut a piece of Whip Cream Cardstock to 4 x 5.25" and using the thread as my stamp, loaded one side with Turbo Teal ink.

This was then stamped onto the card stock.  I rotated the block on each stamping which gave a really unique basket weave affect.

I then applied the tiniest amount of craft glue in each of the 4 corners and placed a sheet of vellum of the same size over top the stamped background to soften it slightly.

Using Beauty Blooms stamp set, I stamped the floral image onto Whip Cream card stock using Turbo Teal ink.  It was then colored using Color Burst colored pencils.  Notice how I just colored the bottoms of each of the petals.  I just wanted to give the flowers a very soft look, leaving them mostly white.  They were then fussy cut using our detail shears and popped up onto the vellum with foam squares.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Birthday from the Designer Frames Die Set out of Turbo Teal card stock.  I snipped the lettering free from the die cut and adhered it to the front of the card using Craft Glue.  As my final embellishment, I added some of the blue Rainbow Drops as shown in the photo below.  This was then adhered to a Turbo Teal card base.

I REALLY like how this one turned out.  The background was so easy and fun to do.  I will definitely be doing this technique again!

I have listed the complete supply list below that links each item to the online store for purchase.   I hope you enjoyed this card.  Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing day!

Gatefold Sleeve Card

This is a different and unique kind of card.  I have to give a shout out to Janice Whiting, another Journey Coach, for the inspiration to create this card.  She made this type card and of course, I had to add my spin on it.  I changed up a few elements and created this pretty and colorful card.

Here are some more views:

A Golfing Father's Day

Well it is now June, and you know that Father's Day will be here before we know it.  If you have a father who loves to golf, well have I got a card for you!  Fun Stampers Journey has just the perfect stamp and die set to make a special card just for dad.

I started off with a Kiwi Slice card stock base card.  I then cut a piece of Limeade Splash card stock 5.25 x 4 ".  Using the word stamps Birdie, Bogie, Eagle and Par, from the Par-Tee stamp set, I stamped the entire piece with Limeade Splash ink.

Then with Black Licorice Ink, I stamped the argyle pants, golf bag, several clubs, the flag and the golf ball all onto Whip Cream card stock.  I used the matching die set to cut out the bag, pants, and flag.  The smallest circle die from the Journey Circles die set was perfect for die cutting the golf ball.  The clubs were fussy cut.

I used the 1.5" punch cartridge and punch handle to cut three squares out of Black Licorice card stock.  I turned them to resemble diamond shapes and adhered them vertically along the left side of the stamped piece.  Using foam squares, I popped up the golf ball, flag, and pants, one on each diamond.

After fussy cutting the clubs, I adhered them to the back of the bag to give the appearance that they are in the bag.  They were then adhered to the front of the stamped pieces on the right side.

I stamped the sentiment onto Black Licorice card stock, using clear pigment ink and then embossed with White embossing powder.  It was then fussy cut and popped up using foam squares in the upper right corner.  As a final touch, I added three green rainbow drops.  Then I adhered it all to the Kiwi Slice base card.

I hope you like it and make one for your golf-loving dad!
