Creating Circular Designed Backgrounds With My Easy to Use Template

These types of cards are rather popular right now, and I wanted to try and make one, however, I found it rather difficult to get the even circular look I desired.  So, after much work and calculation, I came up with the perfect template to help make these cards fun and easy to do.  Today, I am featuring two finished examples and will walk you thru step by step how to use my template.

The first thing you will need is a light box.  This will make seeing the template thru your card stock much easier. To start with I cut the template printout into a square shape so it fit easier on the light box and attached it using repositionable tape.  Then I cut a piece of Whip Cream card stock 3.75 x 3.75 inches and centered it on top of the template and taped in place, also using repositionable tape.

For these particular cards, I used one of the circle stamps from Fun Stampers Journey Date Me stamp set.  It was centered and stamped on the Whip Cream piece using Watermelon Fusion ink.

This is how it looked after being stamped:

Next, I chose one of the branch stamps from the Open Arms Stamp Set (this is a host exclusive set) and positioned it  by lining it up with the rays from my template and stamping in Limeade Splash ink.

I decided to place one image on each ray.  You can easily, do every other ray also.  Here is the finished look:

I wanted to add more greenery so I chose a branch stamp from the Date Me stamp set and positioned it between each of the rays on the template.

I used Kiwi Slice ink for this branch to give some color variation to the greenery.  I really love the finished look:

If you want to add more color, like I did, I chose to use the small rose stamp from the Date Me stamp set and used Watermelon Fusion ink.  I stamped it on the rays and used the rings of the template to assist with placement.

Here is the finished piece:

Here is is after removing from the light box.

I think it really makes a striking look on any card.  I created small 4 x 4 note cards, but you can create any size card you like.  Experiment with stamps and colors to come up with your one unique look.

Here are the finished cards.  I used the Fun Stampers Journey detail die set to create the center floral, but you could place a sentiment in the center, or a number for a birthday card, the possibilities are endless.

If you would like to download the template and give it a try for yourself, you may do so here.  I would love to know what you think of the template and if you found it helpful.

I have listed the complete supply list below which can be printed out by clicking the small "supply list" below the items.  I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

  1. I printed it – – but I think I will use a sunny window, rather than a lightbox. Thank you so much for generously sharing your idea and your template!
